Protecting Public Lands. Preserving Access. Promoting Stewardship.
Friends of Chappie is a volunteer-driven nonprofit dedicated to protecting and maintaining the Chappie-Shasta Off-Highway Vehicle Area near Shasta Dam. We promote safe, responsible OHV use and partner with the Bureau of Land Management to restore trails, educate the public, and keep public lands open for future generations.
We organize volunteer days to repair and maintain OHV trails, install erosion control, and remove debris.
We promote safety, land stewardship, and responsible riding habits through outreach and events.
We work with public agencies and clubs to ensure continued access to our public lands.
Join us on our next trail day, support our projects, or help us spread the word. Every bit helps preserve access to the trails we love.
In Spring 2024, we partnered with the BLM and local 4x4 groups to restore a section of Trail 16 affected by erosion. Volunteers installed drainage features and removed over 500 pounds of debris.
